Columbia University, situated in the city of New York, is an ivy league research university in Upper Manhattan, New York City. Established in 1754, it is the oldest institution of higher learning in New York State and one of the United States’ nine colonial colleges. One of the things it is noted for is the annual administration of the Pulitzer Prize award. It is ranked fourth overall among U.S. national universities for 2016 by U.S. News & World Report. Between 1996 and 2008, eighteen Columbia affiliates have won Nobel Prizes.
